Coming Up In October 2024 Art Club
Pattern is one of our favourite subjects here in Art Club, it is just so much fun and so versatile.
So in October our art club theme is ‘Pattern‘.
October will be all about turning your patterns on their head a little and thinking about them in different ways. I have some creative exercises to help you play with pattern in your work and to help you to generate some more pattern ideas whilst also filling pages in your sketchbook of art journal.
I will be kicking off our pattern-themed month with the welcome video on the 1st of the month as I show you some of my pattern focused work and sketchbooks to get you thinking about your pattern and mark making play. I love doodling and mark making so they make up a lot of my pattern work and I have lots of books filled with patterns.

Journal Club
In Journal Club explore looking at pattern with new eyes and giving yourself that opportunity to play and develop as you fill out pages in your art journal. Being able to rethink your patterns can give you new avenues to explore so I have three exercises that involving focusing on your use of positive and negative space in your pattern making.

In The Studio

Have fun exploring pattern with collage using this month’s pattern heavy download. There are four, colour co-ordinated papers to download and print from home this month.
