VIDEO: 3 Paper Doodling Ideas Using Someone Else’s Papers

3 different paper doodling ideas from Kim Dellow

If you still haven’t tried Paper doodling then maybe my three paper doodling projects this week will get you cutting! I have swapped out my own leftover papers for some gorgeous paper downloads that I bought from the lovely Judy who owns the Etsy shop JADESMiXEdMediaArt. They are so rich and full of details and color that I just had to try paper doodling with them. You can also find Judy over on Instagram too so do pop on over and say hi!.

These papers are so lovely and bright that I think they work well on dark backgrounds. I have some more ideas of where you can use your paper doodles and on what surfaces in this week’s video. Don’t forget that if you have missed all the paper doodling fun you can find out how to do it in my How To Paper Doodle Video.

VIDEO: How To Paper Doodle And Use Up Your Leftover Papers

colored paper collage paper doodles by Kim Dellow

I have been doodling quite a lot recently in my videos haven’t I? I’ve doodled with all sorts of different materials, you can see me doodle with acrylic paint and soft pastels or watercolors and ink in my last two videos. This week I am also doodling and I have a new doodle creative exercise to share with you that I am calling Paper Doodle!

The Paper Doodle is all about making patterns and doodles with paper collage but it isn’t ordinary collage as I will explain in this video. It is super simple to do and a great way to use up old papers. So watch the video, then have a play and share the results with me on social media as I would love to see them and all my links are at the end of this post.

Doodling is very much on my mind again this week and I have a watercolor and ink doodle to share with you this time in my weekly art week. So this week I am testing out some new-to-me watercolor paints and paper and talking through my process for testing new products too.

Enjoy the watercolor doodle and there is a side piccy of the final project as well as a peek of my Daily Doodle Diary below!

VIDEO: Making An Acrylic Paint And Pastel Doodle Painting

Acrylic paint and soft pastel doodle on kraft paper by Kim Dellow

I thought I would break out the soft pastels for today’s pastel doodle project. Do you use them? They aren’t the first coloring material that I usually reach for but I thought it would be fun play with them and see what I could do. I am using them with acrylic paint so I have some tips on how to use paper masks to get beautiful block shapes and then lots of tips on how to use soft pastels.

Let me know how you get on with them and scroll on down this post to see a some more of the texture of the pastels on the kraft paper I am using.

VIDEO: Saving Messy Art PLUS DIY Sticky Masks

Adding pen work to a gel print by Kim Dellow

I love messy art! I think it is totally part of the process and has so many important uses for us as artists. But I also know that messy art can be frustrating sometimes and we might end up feeling that we have gone too far and need to ditch the art or recycle it.

If you have gone through this too then I have a piece and some ideas that will help you today. But also today I am sharing a DIY adhesive mask trick, so great if you don’t have the masking film I have been using in the last two videos. And I have a trick for bringing two completely different pieces together as if they were always meant to be together.

Scroll on down for the supplies and a picture of the inside of the card!

VIDEO: More Gel Printing Ideas – Reuse Masking Film!

Yellow and green gel print with painted and pencil circles around a masked area.

Gel printing cards again this week and sticking with that double-sided card idea, if you missed it check last week’s post for the first card in this series. This week I found a couple of faces in the gel print design! So had to try and bring them out! But faces aren’t the only thing I thought I would try out this week. I thought I would see if I could stretch my stash and reuse an old piece of masking film, one I have used before. Will it still work?

Find out in the video and you can find a picture of the inside and the outside of this week’s double-sided card below.

VIDEO: How To Make Gel Printed Greeting Cards With A Difference – Card 1

A greeting card made with gel printing by Kim Dellow

I decided to get my gel plate out to make some gel printed greeting cards. But these are gel printed greeting cards with a difference! Hey all, it is a new video day and this week I have a painted doodle, collage page in my junk journal for some inspiration for you. I am just loving layering doodles and paint marks at the moment and each time I do it they seem to get more complex. I am challenging myself to see how many layers I can get into one piece! VIDEO: Bright Mixed Media Art

Bright mixed media art by Kim Dellow

I felt like do something super bright to cheer us all up! I have been a little under the weather recently and so something bright and bold was definitely called for! When you work for yourself and you aren’t able to to work at the same level that you are use to it is a little bit of a shock to the system and I have been slowly recovering and trying to get back up to my usual working speed. I am not quite there yet as you will hear in the video. My voice isn’t entirely back and so I have had to put most of this video to music. Hopefully the bright colors and bold shapes will make up for the quietness of my voice!

In the video I show you all of the layers and you can watch the piece build shape by shape. Some of you might recognise it as one of the the pages that I shared in my recent studio update video. If you do, then this is what happened to it!

VIDEO: Three Easy Watercolor Abstract Inspiration

Three watercolor abstracts by Kim Dellow

Last week I was playing with acrylic paint and brushstrokes and sharing ideas on how to get the most out of your mark making. This week I have swapped to watercolor! So let’s play with our brushstrokes and see what kind of looks we can get with this wonderful medium. I am just going to use a mop brush for my abstracts but feel free to swap it up and use what brushes you have. And I will be chatting a bit about brushes, paint and paper in this video today with some pointers to what to try out and experiment with.

Now just as a side note! After recording this I realised that not all the colors I am using came from the Decadent pies set. So the pink I am using is actually from the Tropicals set but I liked how it works with the Decadent Pies colors so put it in the tin then forgot that it was an addition from another set!

Oh and another thing that is very handy that I discovered after recording this video is a list of the pigments for the Prima Marketing Inc Confections range. You can find it at The Spin Doctor blog.
