Coming Up In August 2024 Art Club
It is almost August so time to share what projects and focuses are on your way next month in Art Club! In August we will be exploring a substrate we haven’t played with in art club yet – Deli Paper.
This paper has been around for a while in the mixed media art world, so you might have a box hidden away somewhere. If you have, this will be a great time to pull it out again.
If not, then have a look and see if you have some other translucent papers you can substitute for Deli paper, like some strong tissue paper for example. If you haven’t got any of that either, then don’t worry. You can still do the techniques on your usual papers.
We will be starting our exploration with some gel printing in the Welcome video, that is open to all paid clubbies.
After the Welcome video art play we will be diving into some more arting with Journal Club.
Journal Club
Let’s play with layers and colour and see what we can do to build some interesting pages. Be it on the Deli paper, or on your usual paper in your art journal or sketchbook, we will explore masking, printing, painting and drawing to build interesting textures.
See how you can repeat patterns, in different ways, to bring your pieces together.

In The Studio
Then In The Studio we will be making papers and exploring are mark making in our first play. Before bring it all together, from the Welcome Video to the In The Studio projects, to explore collage.
And if you have used a translucent paper for your pieces we will be putting that feature to good use in the second ‘In The Studio’ project in August.

You can look forward to four collage sheets for this month’s art pack. Usually it is only three but this month, with all the printing and paper making, I thought I would throw in an extra page for you. So there is a page of Japanese butterflies and three different gel prints to play with.

Want to get some Deli paper? You can find them in Jackson’s Art or on Amazon. But don’t feel that you have to get some as all of the projects can be done on ordinary paper too. The only difference is the translucent nature of the Deli paper.
