Coming Up In November 2024 Art Club
This month’s Art Club theme is ‘Contrasts’ – one of the most powerful tools in an artist’s toolbox. Get ready to dive into the world of contrasts with different ideas and creative exercises designed to help you discover which contrasts resonate with you and how to use them effectively.
And we’ve got an exciting subject this month too, as voted by you! A big thank you to everyone who voted for a subject back in September. The winner, as you may have already guessed from the project images in this post, is ‘Botanical Bonanza’! So, this month we’ll be celebrating all things floral, weaving those beautiful blooms into our exploration of contrast. I’ve also added some new floral reference photos to the ever-growing catalogue to inspire you.
I’m absolutely buzzing to explore this month’s theme and subject with you! Let me give you a sneak peek of what’s coming up. More details will be in the ‘Welcome Video‘ on the 1st, which will be available to all members again this month.
Talking Points
Our first creative exercise to help you explore your contrasts will actually appear in the first ‘Talking Points’ post this month. It’s a brilliant exercise to help you to spark ideas and figure out how to put them into action technically.

Journal Club
Following ‘Talking Points’, we’ll delve deeper into tones and contrasts with florals in Journal Club. I’ll take you step-by-step through a rose sketch, using watercolour and pencils in my sketchbook in one colour to get you really focused in on your tones.

In The Studio
As we move into the studio later in the month, I’ve got some exciting pieces to share. We’ll begin by focusing on using contrast in your layering techniques with florals, before shifting to something a bit more emotional – exploring how contrast can be used to tell deeper stories in your work.
