I have some fun backgrounds in my art video today for you to try in your next art session. They look like watercolor backgrounds but they are all done with acrylic paints.
But why do them with acrylic paint instead of watercolors? Well, you can of course do them with your watercolors but if you like to layer your pieces, like I do, then starting with acrylic paint backgrounds can be really useful can’t it? Because you can layer up over the top and not worry about the layer underneath reactivating and mixing with the new layer.
And you can make a whole batch of these backgrounds and not have to worry about remembering what you used to make them with! Because they are compatible with lots of materials that you might want to use on them.
Very handy backgrounds!

Hi Kim,
that is what I do best…. making a mess LOL I am pretty good at that.
Love to water down acrylics as well as normal ink which one can get in different colors as well.
Pipettes are always usefull in many ways. Toothbrushes are usefull too, as any brush of any size for that matter, and it is interesting to see how the different sort of bristles give so many different effects.
Sunny autumn greetings 🙂
Btw, did you see my email about the offers at Gerstaecker?
Hiya Rena,
Making a mess is the best! 🤣🤣💖🎨. Yes, thank you for the email. I am already on the Great Art mailing list as I do love going to the shop they have in London when I get the chance. It is one of my fave art shops to hang out in! Thank you for thinking of me and sending it over!
Have fun making a mess today!
