I love layering and I have lots of layers for you today in my art video. So I hope you like some layers too?! It is another floral piece and if you remember last week’s art video I was showing you how to use transparent and translucent paint to add a focal image with a flower painting demo.
Well this week I have gone for opaques to add my floral focal image and you can see the difference! So go back and do a compare and contrast if you still need convincing of the wonders of different paint opacities!
This week’s video is a speedpaint so that you can see all the layers come together, so go grab a cuppa and enjoy.
If you want some more chat and a talk through of the layers then I have an extra video over on my Patreon for my Process Addicts going through this piece today. (Not sure what Patreon is then watch this short video explainer!)

Hi KIm
just watched the video. Informativ and inspiring as usual 🙂
Even when you didn’t use any gelli plates here, I have a tip for you:
have a look here for the megamounts, there are especially for the gelli plates
https://claritystamp.com/collections/mounts-1/product_mounts
with these the plates can be used like clear stamps and I find that very useful when layering colors in separate steps. It is much easier this way because one can see where to go. When one has to put the paper on top of the plate it can be a lucky dip, if that is really when one wants it.
No, I don’t get comission LOL
Greetings from too hot Germany
Rena
Thanks Rena, yes I have seen those gel plate mounts they do look like a great idea!
They are really helpful.
I wouldn’t want to miss them since I wanna see what I am doing LOL. Not that it always helps.
When you have them you don’t know how you could ever do without.
For the tiny gelli plates I use normal acrylic blocks.
