Coming Up In September 2024 Art Club
September always feels to me like a big transition. It is the start of the academic year in the UK and even though I am no longer directly involved in that, it is a rhythm that still sticks with me. September always gives me that new beginnings feel, do you know what I mean?
In the UK we move from Summer to Autumn and even though the differences between seasonal weather in the UK are becoming more and more blurred with climate change, emotionally and mentally I still feel that change and it’s a time that invites new possibilities and fresh starts.
This brings us to our Art Club theme for September: Transitions.
I’ll be focusing on seasonal transitions, but within the broader context of exploring how your personal stories and connections influence transitions in your art.
September offers the perfect opportunity for introspection – an invitation to reflect on how you relate to these seasonal changes. It’s a moment to pause, breathe, and uncover new stories within your art as you prepare for the coming season.
To help you navigate this, I’ve planned a series of creative exercises across the different Art Club tiers, providing a framework to explore the theme of transition in your work.
With transitions come a host of new inspirations.
We’re kicking off with the Welcome video where you’ll engage in a creative exercise exploring your colour palettes for the month. We’ll seek out colours that evoke the mood and emotion of the changing season.

Journal Club
In Journal Club, you’ll delve deeper into seasonal transitions. This will be your first opportunity to put the colour ideas from the Welcome video into practice. Together, we’ll explore the concepts of transformation and change, using your seasonal colours to shift the mood of a subject as we explore this theme of transition.

In The Studio
In The Studio, you’ll have the chance to connect with your inner self and your art narrative. We’ll take time to explore the transitions and seasonal changes that hold meaning for you. By connecting with what matters most to you, you’ll develop a stronger, more resonant artistic voice.
This month, I’ve prepared two creative exercises designed to help you recognise, put together and express these connections in your work.

September 2024 Art Pack Download
The download this month also equips you with tools to explore your own seasonal transitions. It includes a copy of my colour collage themed around transitions, which you can cut or tear up to inspire your own colour explorations. You’ll also find owl motifs – featured prominently this month – alongside other abstract elements.
Later in the month, I’ll return with further inspiration to help you get the most out of your download, expanding on the transition theme in a new process.
