Sharing An Art Journal Theme

I've been doing a lot of drawing in my art journal recently. I have been using different kinds of Sharpie pens either on fresh pages or on pages that already had a few layers of paint left over from previous projects. I've been sharing some of my surface design patterns on my Instagram feed and I will be blogging them at some point. But in the meantime here are a couple of pages that I haven't posted to instagram as yet, they will be going up today or tomorrow! They are…

PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Acrylic Paints And Ink Resist

You will not be able to resist the current theme over on the PaperArtsy blog because it is Resists! (Oh dear Kim, I think you have been working too hard!). Well, we ARE talking about Resists over on the PaperArtsy blog at the moment and for my blog post I have been experimenting with a resist technique based on the Gouache and ink technique. But as it is PaperArtsy I thought…

Time for a tutorial share over on the Blitsy blog for the steps to make a textured canvas board project. [I do use affiliate links and there are some in this blog post.] You might just be able to tell from this cheeky sneaky peek (I wanted to say peeky then but perhaps that is an -eeky too far?!) that I've used a stencil to build up the texture and then there are several layers using different DecoArt Media paints to build up the colour. You can see all the…

Working With Texture On Canvas

I started three canvases three weeks ago. I got all excited as I thought I would enter them into a couple of art competitions that I had spotted. I find having a focus like that can be a great way to concentrate the mind. I am somewhat deadline driven after all! But the best laid plans of Mice and Kims go so terribly squiggy at times and I missed both competition deadlines in spectacular form. I actually finished this piece a day after the deadline had passed. GO Kim!…
