Christmas Pink

Hey Guys, My last Christmas card to show you and this one uses the colour combination inspiration from the Basic Grey Challenge which is Blue, Cream and Pink.

I’ve chosen to use the lovely Oakley with Christmas Bauble another of my favourites from the Whiff Of Joy Winter Kit – perhaps an odd choice for the colour combo? LOL! The Basic Grey paper is from the Granola set.

So I’ve used my PrismaColor pencils and Sansodor to colour him and put him on an embossed piece of White Wash card from Core-dinations.

I’ve hand stitched this one, with a little swirl and snowflake motif and stitched some lace and beads onto the embossed card.

The sentiment from the CC Designs Cookie Crumbs Reason from the Season set was stamped onto some calico and then I stitched a border with some beads around it.

I had some fabulous news the lovely folks at Saturday Spotlight Challenge picked my Willow with Christmas Candle make as a favourite! Thank you guys, you have made my day!

Get Your Lovely Apples

Hey everyone, hope that if you are lucky enough to be having a three-day weekend that it is a fun one for you. At the moment my other half is scraping glue and bits of wood off of the bathroom floor, I’ve had a bit of reprieve to post this card, good excuse I thought 🙂

Bank holiday weekends are for DIY, aren’t they? We got thrown out of Homebase yesterday, what we had not factored in was that they close at 4pm and we got there at 3.40pm. D’oh.

The look of panic on our little faces as we heard the ‘Choose, pay and get out NOW’ over the Tannoy at 3.45pm. So we went into Mission Impossible – bathroom floor mode and split up to get the stuff on our long list.

Having asked one of the staff where the sealant was I then got a lecture on the different types of sealant and, although very useful, all I could think was ‘I haven’t got time for this! Why did I pick the only person in Homebase who takes an interest in their job?’!

No-one else seemed that worried that the shop was closing, this is how non-DIY we are, we do not know the ‘Way of the DIY shop’ on a bank-hol, Sunday afternoon.

Anyway onto the card! The stamp is one of the lovely Summer collection from Whiff of Joy and is coloured in with distress inks and watercolour pencils. There is machine and hand-stitching on this card and the apples are drawn by me (‘coz I don’t have any apple stamps!).

The beautiful vintage gold metallic thread lace is from my wonderful friend Siri, who sent me a gorgeous ribbon and button RAK from her Grandmother’s stash, they are so lovely that I want to use them for something special 🙂 Siri is an interior designer and if you are looking for some ideas for your craft space have a look at her new venture.

To all you DIY-ers out there – we feel for ya, brothers and sisters.

Darla Does The Housework

Boy, I wish she would come round to my place – it needs a good clean! A late post today and I have no excuse. Where does the time go? Well, it certainly wasn’t from doing any housework.

The lovely Darla here is from InStyle Stamps and is coloured in with a mix of Prismacolor pencils and my new Koh-i-noor pencils, which I’ve been trying to get my hands on for a while but they are very hard to get in the UK. Well, until Elizabeth from Elzybells Art Stamps started to supply them. Thanks, Elizabeth, I love them!

I might also have done some more hand-stitching. OK, so this is now reaching obsessive heights I reckon 🙂 Can I even make a card now that does not have hand-stitching on it?

Don’t forget that there are a couple of challenges up on the InStyle Blog to play with – the Wednesday Challenge and the Thank Thursday Sketch Challenge – so plenty to be getting on with if you are bored 😉 Of course, you could always go do some housework instead!

I reckon my mind is very tidy then! Hope you are all having a lovely weekend.

I’ve been completely thrown by the bank holiday. I thought it was Tuesday today!

A Bit Of Colour Inspiration And Name That Stitch Competition…

A challenge card today taking inspiration from the Colour Create Challenge blog, which is celebrating a fab 10k hits – well done, guys. They have some blog candy to celebrate so hop over ASAP 🙂

These are colours I rarely use but really like so I had to have a go! I dug about in my stash to find a colour match and after much hunting I found the mix of papers you see on this card.

I’ve done some hand-stitching on the card. For a bit of fun can you name the stitches? The first person who can name the three types of stitch I’ve used on this card will receive a little stash RAK from me 🙂 So have a guess and leave me a comment or email me.
