A Krafty Sample

Sample time! I still have samples from my Create and Craft show back in May to show. This is one that I actually demoed on the show…

It is all Kraft with papers from the Tim Holtz Kraft resist stack and I’ve used some Antique Linen Distress Paint for the background.

I particularly love the way that the Gathered Twigs Distress Stain gives the Kraft Resist a look of suede.

Would you believe that I still have not run out of samples from the show? Sorry! There are still more to come!

Have a crafty Friday.

Don’t forget my Cricut giveaway!

Painted Frame And Distressed Heart

Right, so we had a bit of a break from Create and Craft samples for Creative Expressions using Tim Holtz products but the samples are back!

I’ve stamped the frame corner stamp from the Tim Holtz Classics 7 Stamp Collection in two colours of Distress Paints.

The heart is coloured with Distress Stains and then stamped with water and the collage stamp from the same collection. I’ve debossed the heart in the Couture Creations I Dream embossing folder and covered the heart and the metal charm from the Idea-ology Adornment Charms set with Creative Expressions Enchanted Gold Gilding Wax.

Hope you are having a fun and creative week.

Perfectly Pink Classic Dragonfly Blueprint

I survived another Create and Craft show! I was in the Tool Shed for two hours on Sunday playing with some of the products from the Ranger Tim Holtz range, it was a lot of fun as you can imagine, got a little messy.

You can also guess that I have got a whole range of samples to show from the show, so at least I won’t run out of blog fodder this week!

First up is a canvas…

I’ve used the Tim Holtz Idea-ology Tissue Tape, with a layer of Golden gel medium over the top to make sure it stuck in place for good. I then built up the colour in layers with the Distress Paints. Remember the paint is opaque so if you want the underneath to show through you need to blend the paint out before it dries. The Dragonfly stamp and sentiments are from the Tim Holtz Classic 1 Stampers Anonymous set. I do love all those blueprint stamps, there is something about blueprints I just love!

I’ve used the Crackly tissue paper technique that Leandra from PaperArtsy uses in her YouTube video – Crackly Tissue with Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics on Canvas. Except I don’t have any crackly tissue paper so I used the technique on some packing tissue and was very, very careful with it!

I then stamped the wing out on acetate and the body onto card and stuck them together and onto the canvas.

Ta-da! Done!

Next sample tomorrow, if I get the time to post it up.

But the time flies so fast in the shows, even two hours together, and I did not cover as much as I thought I would when I was putting the show together last week – well that is what blogs are for I suppose!

Catch you later.

Back On Create And Craft

I’ve been busy making samples and putting demos together this week for my next Creative Expressions show on  Create and Craft.

I’m on this Sunday (19th May) 12pm – 2pm in the Tool Shed! (But remember times can change).

You can catch the show online or via  Freeview 36 | Freesat 813 | Virgin 748 | Sky 671 or even via their app.

And you can have a pretty good guess at what type of show it will be if you pop over to their website as they have the products up already, but don’t go buying them all, leave me something to demo won’t you?

A Plum Twist Of A Make!

Thanks everyone who took the time to watch my first Create and Craft shows for Creative Expressions on Friday and even more thanks to everyone who then dropped me a note too via here on my blog, Facebook or Twitter, so very sweet of you all and hugely appreciated!

I thought I would share one of my makes from the shows, it is an off the page altered wooden frame, with a bit of a vintage feel.

The heart is card embossed in the Couture Creations Intrinsic embossing folder and sprayed with the Plum Twist Cosmic Shimmer Mister and I’ve also added the gorgeous Creative Expressions Vintage key and leaf metal embellishments, love these, the big keys are flat-backed making it even easier to stick in place and the leaves are bendable.

Oh and the really useful screw top brads too. The background to the heart was all done with Ranger Archival and Distress inks and the Creative Expressions Texture plate stamps (another firm fave!).

For the wooden frame I used the That Special Touch Key Mask with Plum Twist Cosmic Shimmer mister and added some extra texture by spraying some of the Creative Expressions crochet ribbon and pressing it onto the frame.

The product are all still up on the Create and Craft website as well if you are looking for them.

Thanks for popping in and catch you later.

Almost ready…

Ok so no sneak peeks I’m afraid but just a little reminder that my first Create and Craft show for Creative Expressions is tomorrow Friday 15th February.

I have two shows one at 11am and the other at 4pm and you can watch them online via the Create and Craft Website

or on the following channels:

Freeview 36 | Freesat 813 | Sky 671

In the meantime don’t forget my Ally Pally BSSBS ticket giveaway!

Right, off to finish samples and demo preps!

UPDATE! – My hours have changed! I’m now on at 4pm and 7pm

Create & Craft You Say?

As some of you know I had my first TV appearance on the shopping channel Create and Craft last year and it was as much a surprise to me as it was to you guys! When I first started on this creative journey I had no idea in which direction it would take me and I never thought I would get the opportunity to demo let alone to demo on telly!

Kuretake asked me if I would like to try out for a guest presenter spot and I thought, what the heck – I’ll give it a go! What have I got to lose – well apart from making a complete noodle of myself in front of folks – but hey what’s new there? I’m often making a noodle of
myself in public!

I made the trip up to Peterborough for a screen test with no idea what to expect and managed to pass the screen test, much to my surprise! I wouldn’t say that I sailed through it as I was really, really nervous but the wonderful Dee Paramour had been coaching me before hand which helped put my mind at ease and with the benefit of her advice I managed
to get through.

Then the day of the first show suddenly appeared and I was still in a bit of a state of shock that this was all going ahead, so I actually found myself quite relaxed about the whole thing. I was expecting to be a neurotic mess waiting for my bunny in the headlights moment as I stood in front of the camera bumbling incoherently but that never happened.

I turned up the required couple of hours before the show and was soon setting up for my demos and going through the products with the production team and the presenter. My presenter for the show was Dave Bradford and he was so calm, professional and lovely that again I just felt ‘yeah, this is ok, I can do this’! All the production team were great, very friendly and patient with me and as I set up for my show I could see the show currently airing across the studio and that also made it easier as I could see how it all worked.

Next thing I knew it was SHOWTIME and I was being introduced by Dave and cameras were rolling. YIKES! Brain keep working – find words – speak! Yay! There were words coming out of my mouth and my hands were steady – phew! Well would you believe it? I was chatting away talking about the products, demoing and having a whale of a time. Totally surprised myself! But there aren’t really that many people in the studio and you kind of forget the cameras are on you and that there might be people watching!

And there were people watching! I had some lovely emails, thank you everyone who took the time to send in emails, it was wonderful to hear from you. I spotted some from fellow bloggy friends too – Shirley and Maxine sent me lovely emails and it was their first time emailing in, so a first for us all. I was tickled pink, you guys just made my day! You really did! Thank you

I managed to demo a card in full and the one I made on the show was given away at the end, I did keep it simple as you can see but I really didn’t know how the demo would go and I didn’t want to trip myself up on my first show by over complicating it! I was thinking on my feet for the other demos as the production team asked me to show particular things, but I had prepared for some different things just in case and I’m glad I did.

As I made my way home after the show I told David, my ever patient partner, that I wouldn’t watch the show until the weekend (we had recorded it). Yeah, right! I watched it as soon as I had a cup of tea in my hand and I was sat on the sofa – was that me? Did I just do that?

For about a month afterwards I was telling everyone I met about the experience – whether they wanted to hear it or not! I was still amazed that I had done it. I’ve calmed down a little bit now but just wait – I have another show coming up…

Yep, Creative Expressions has given me the opportunity to represent them on a show next Friday and I can’t wait. I’m just designing the makes and demos at the moment, maybe, if I have time
I’ll sneak you some peeks…

So my next Create and Craft show is:
(remember that times can still change)

15th February 11am and 4pm

and can be seen on:

Freeview 36 | Freesat 813 | Sky 671 | Internet

Fingers crossed the nerves don’t kick in this time!

Vintage Shoes

I’m not usually one for double parking my makes, posting two or more makes in a post, and I try to avoid posting more than once a day, but I’m getting to the point where I have more samples than days to post them!

I have to admit that I am starting to lose the plot a little on which I’ve posted and which I haven’t, it is not helped by my somewhat haphazard filing system as I seem to have everything marked as ‘not blogged yet’.

Hey Ho!

Anyway, I do have some makes to show you today, not one, not two but THREE makes! They are all from the samples I made for Creative Expressions recently and you have already seen a little peak of a couple of them.

All the makes use the If The Shoe Fits A5 stamp plate designed by Sam Poole.

Did you know you can use Cosmic Shimmers Powders to distress and vintage your papers? I didn’t until I tried it. The papers are called Foundation Papers and I added extra details with the  Cosmic Shimmers Powders and That Special Touch Flourish Mask and some Versamark.

Yep, I did use those circle flowers again, I know you are getting tired of them – but look how well the circle sentiment from the stamp set works with them!

I’ve also distressed the next sample with the Cosmic Shimmers Powders and been at the Foundation Papers with the tearing.

This time I stamped the smaller shoes from the kit in Versamark and used the Cosmic Shimmers Powders to add some sparkle and also some colour to the rose too.

Ok my final sample today is a little different from the other two as there is no distressing just lots of dots.

For this one I used the Foundation Papers to layer the dotty paper which I made using 3D Crystal Colour Lacquer and the That Special Touch Polka Dots Mask.

You can see the 3D sparkly effect of the Lacquer – cool! The ribbon is a lovely sheer polka dot and the Spellbinders dies is the Labels 9 Nestie.

The dots you see before your eyes are real!

Well I better go and try to organise my filing system.

Catch you later. (Much later!)

Have fun

Sunday Round-Up

This is a first for me, I can say this week ‘As Seen On TV’ and what a thrill! It was quite surreal seeing something that you have made on national TV!

For those of you who missed my Friday post, Steph from Kuretake was demoing lots of yummy ZIG pens on Create and Craft and the design team had made samples to go
with the pens.

I mean it is quite surreal seeing something you have made sitting on the cover of a magazine in the newsagents, when this first happened I wanted to stand in front of the magazine and go ‘I did that!’ to anyone who happened past. I suppressed the urge and put on a professional face, kept the jumping up and down for home!

So imagine, seeing your makes on TV – dude! Yep, I have taped it. Steph and Buffy had put together a fabulous couple of shows and it was great to see the pens in action.

(Sorry for the rather rubbish screen shots of some of the makes, but you get the idea)

Ok so I’m off the ceiling now and knuckling down to more work to keep me grounded!

Before I come completely down to earth I just thought I would share an article from the current Papercraft Essentials, issue 69. Got some fun Summer Party makes for you in this issue with a masterclass in both hand and machine stitching.

Lots of little projects, cards and tips in this one and some different stitching for you too! I’ve got some teasey teasers:

(btw the little box uses one of the Kuretake Gift box templates)

Just a little taster and I hope you like the article and find it useful! It was another article I loved putting together. But then I love doing them all.

Sunday Hopping:

Before I go I have some links that you might like to add to your Sunday hopping list. The first wonderful blog is that of Milla at Mustesormi

Milla makes gorgeous cards and papercraft projects and is another crafter after my own heart who loves her texture and making backgrounds. You should take a look at the wonderful make she has done with my recent sweet wrapper background tutorial – wow! Then there is the fabulous makes inspired by the collage background tutorial here and here. Love them!

The next fabby blog belongs to ManLe Hong of Pineapple Cove Designs and has a wonderful card made using my Sew Easy circle tutorial.

I don’t know about you but I just love seeing all this creativity that everyone is up to!

Have a fabulously creative day.
