Fashion Artist And Illustrators To Follow On Instagram

Did you watch London Fashion Week last week? All caught up with what is hot and not this season and next season? I have to admit that I am a bit clueless when it comes to fashion, would not know my *insert current top designer’s name here* from my *insert a different current top designer’s name here*, yes it is that bad, I don’t even know the current top names in the fashion industry, I did warn you I was clueless! But I do have a massive admiration, and a smattering of jealousy, for all the art and talent that goes into it.

From the textile art and surface design of the clothes to the artists that illustrate fashion, there is just so much to be inspired by. So fashionista or not, if you are looking for some people to follow on Instagram for a bit of daily fashion artist and Illustrator inspiration then here are some suggestions:

Fashion Art And Illustrators To Follow On ativan Instagram:

1. Hodaya Louis @hodayalouis – Works in a whole range of different mediums and a varied style. Just love her face art but she also can render a fashion form seemingly effortless, which obviously it isn’t, with just a few marks, it is pretty awesome! She also has a website, Hodaya Louis, and sells prints of her work.

2. Megan Ruth St Clair Morgan @mrscmillo – Works a lot in pen/ink and watercolour. I just love her continuous line style and how she can give the essence of the form with line and a touch of colour. She also has a portfolio website at MRSCMILLO.

3. Beth Briggs Illustration @bethbriggsillustration – Has a signature bright pastel colour style and I love her illustrative look. I also love that she really only started turning her hobby into a career after she turned 50. You can also find out about her in her etsy shop BBriggsIllustration.

4. Marie-Klara Gonzalez @marieklaragonzalez – Has a very contemporary illustrative style, I love her surface design and fashion drawings. You can also find her through Miss Capricho where she displays her client work.

5. Elena Ciuprina @elenaciuprina – Has a very bold line and block colours style which I really love. She is another artist who experiments with different mediums and different looks which is fun to watch. She also has a portfolio on Behance under her name Elena Ciuprina.

6. Jacky Marshall @jackyblue__ – Uses all sorts of items in her work, lots of different types of pen work but then the odd addition of fabric and paper collage too. I love her quick line drawings and her use of colour and pattern.

Hearts And Circles Gone Digital!

Recent I got to try out the CraftArtist 2 Professional from Serif. Have you used it?

If you don’t know it, it is a papercrafting software for doing your digital and hybrid makes. I was quite surprised at the amount of things I could do with the software. For example you can ‘punch’ shapes digitally, then use them to co-ordinate your digital design or even print them out to make embellishments.

So I was let loose on this software and here is one of my makes using only the software and the Circle Brush and Stamps kit.

It is only simple as I was on a tight turn around, but I do like a bit of clean and simple designing. So I’ve coloured the digital stamps in the software, then added in the black borders around the stamps, arranged the design and printed them out with the sentiment too. Easy! Well it was easy once I had worked out how to change the border of the stamp.

If you are interested in trying the CraftArtist for yourself there is actually a free compact version of the software too.

Have a fun Monday.

Live Love Cake!

Cake! Cake! We want more cake!

You don’t hear people shouting

‘Yoghurt! Yoghurt! We want more Yoghurt!’

Do you? Nope! It is all about the cake!

But don’t worry I have some low calorie cake to show today, it’s a little digital make.

See you couldn’t get less calories in a cake if you tried! I’ve used elements from the Welcome Home section of the Studio 12  Picknix Collection 1 CD from Polka Doodles and put them together in Photoshop Elements.

It is cute isn’t it? But now you all want some cake don’t you?

Ok so I can’t offer you more cake but if you pop on other to the Studio 12 blog you will find more sugar!

Tuesday Tripping

Is that two consecutive blog posts with something about tripping in the title? Think it might be! Got a busy week ahead, lots of commissions to finish and get in the post before the Olympics start messing with the mail.  So I thought I would drop by to show a couple of piccies from the weekend as a small diversion.

We had a lovely weekend catching up with more family members that we had not seen for a while, and what glorious weather we had. YAY! Summer is finally here. Not wanting to turn into a weather blog but I have to say I do like a bit of sun.

It was full festival mode on Sunday at the Royal Festival Hall on the Southbank, it’s one of David and my favourite places for a walk and it seemed to be everyone elses’ favourite place as well on Sunday.

I’ve been in London many years now and it is fascinating watching how areas have changed over those years and with the Olympics there has been some accelerated change to areas that is like watching years go by in just a few months.

Life is Change, Change is Life

Embrace the Change!

There is a little spot under the Royal Festival Hall that was an unofficial skating park, but I think it has been there so long now that it is now an official skating park and people stop to watch the bikers and skaters. I always watch in awe.

I love the years of tagging on the walls in the area, it is just so vibrant. The Royal Festival Hall is great for Parkour too, we have spotted them a couple of times. Keep your eye out for them in the quieter areas whilst you are wondering around looking at the various art instillation they have at the moment.

Ok so enough diversion and time to do some work.

Apologies to anyone dropping by my blog yesterday to see a La-La Land Crafts post from me, it will be back to normal services next week but don’t forget to pop by the La-La Land Crafts blog to see the lovely DT inspiration.

I also have a digital card make on the Studio12 blog today if you are interested.

Have a totally tripping Tuesday.

If I Had Wings From Creative Expressions

I’m having a bit of a blog re-shuffle again, Thursday is now my new Creative Expressions posting day so here is another make using Sam Poole’s Art Sayings stamp plate available from Creative Expressions.

For this one I’ve used the Art Sayings stamp plate to create the background by stamping over a surface that I’ve first textured with old sewing pattern tissue and then stippled on some acrylic paint in areas and added some gesso over the top to create this lovely textured look.

The sentiment is also from the Art Sayings stamp plate and I think it nicely matches her wistful look don’t you think?

If you are wondering about the image it is from one of my catalogue of images and ephemera that I’ve been unable to throw out collecting slowly over the years, she is one of my favourites.

I was inspired by this month’s Ranger’s Video except I tinted my photo in Photoshop Elements as I wanted to keep the details and I’ve actually used Archival ink to stamp the Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 The Voice Of Art receipt stamp onto the photo but I did use Ranger Distress inks on the edges and on the whole tag to finish it.

I’ve also used some of the new Vintaj Patina and some acrylic paint on the metal photo tabs and the eyelet to change their colour and distress them.

Hope you have survived all the photos, I did go a bit photo heavy today!

Have a lovely Thursday.

EDIT: Ok so this is how behind I am on my blog hopping, I did not realise that the photo tinting video was part of Tim Holtz’s 12 tags of 2012 theme as I came across it on the Ranger’s website and not his blog. Well what the heck, I’m going to enter my make into the June challenge, it isn’t exactly the same but it is inspired by the same technique – hope I’ve not broken any rules LOL!

Inspiration Monday {Make A Scene}

What is the La-La Land Crafts Inspiration this week? Make A Scene! Yep this week it is all about making a scene with your La-La Land Crafts stamps and I thought I would make a little story with mine.

I’ve used the new Heart Balloon Luka and with the suitcases and sentiment from the Suitcase Set, which you can also get as digi-stamps, to make this little travelling scene.

To make the background I altered one of my photographs of a train and you have a little story told in card form.

But making a scene couldn’t be simpler have you seen the La-La Land Crafts new scene stamps? They are some of the digital versions of the La-La Land Crafts stamps grouped to make scenes and they are fabulous!

So don’t forget if your want to join in Making a Scene then link up your make in the Customer Gallery and you could win a prize.

If you are looking for more scenes then don’t forget to pop on over to the La-La Land Crafts blog today and Friday!

Catch you later.

What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday – WOYWW

I wasn’t planning to post anything on my blog today but then I remembered that it is What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday and I haven’t joined in the fun for ages, so I thought I would do a quick WOYWW post.

Well, it isn’t quite a workdesk I have to show but a bit of work on some digital papers I’m designing. I haven’t done any paper crafting with actual paper since Friday – SHOCK! But I have been doing lots of digital work in the last few days.

So on my Digital Workdesk today is:

I’m calling this one Distressed Harlequin – well that is its working title at the moment.

Don’t forget to join in the WOYWW fun by popping over to Julia’s lovely blog Stamping Ground.

Catch you later.

What The Christmas Fairy Is Really Thinking…

Slight change to my usual post today. Usually it would be my Make The Day Special DT make on a Tuesday, but you have already seen this week’s MTDS make. So I thought I would take the opportunity to show some of my Digital Art playing and to remind you that you still have a few hours to enter my Blog Candy.

I made this digital collage in Photoshop Elements using elements from the Fairy Tail Christmas Digital Collage sheet 184 available from ItKuPilli (who I found via Kate Crane).

I’ve also used a couple of my own textures and the Gesso Altered Book Page freebie to add some texture. The swirls come with the My Memories Software and I altered them to fit my design. The watch faces are from the Amy Teets Postcards and Emphera kit.

I warned you I was getting back into my digital work!
