Inks are great aren’t they? I mean I use a lot of acrylic paint but I do love using acrylic inks too. I love drawing with them but they are fabulous for all sorts of techniques and mark making, so I thought it would be fun to share some ideas for how to get the most out of your inks. Now I am using acrylic inks here but you can easily use other inks, drawing inks and even liquid watercolors instead in a lot of the techniques that I am sharing today.
So have a play and let me know which techniques you love and are going to try out next! Oh and let me know what inks of fluid colors you are enjoying using at the moment! And don’t forget to scroll down to see the close-up a texture from one of the techniques I use in this video.

I have some cheap silver chain and I would like to somehow color it red. Will acrylic inc do nicely on a chain? I was given a hand me down of acrylic in but I have never used or seen it used.
Hi Wendy, I will be honest I don’t know! I haven’t tried acrylic ink on chain but I would guess that it would be a difficult to handle as it is so fluid. I know that alcohol inks color metal really well with a transparent color. I am not sure how permanent it is for wearing if you are looking to color chains for jewelry. For mixed media art then it’s fine. The other thing you can look into is the Vintaj Patinas which come in lots of colors and are opaque and work fine on metal. Hope that helps. Kim
