VIDEO: My Favourite DIY Stamp Carving Materials Ready For Carve December

My favourite DIY stamp carving materials with a video by Kim Dellow

You know when you finish a project and you have lots of other ideas but you just can’t seem to pick one and run with it? Well, that was me! After finishing my Gelli Prints Project series I was looking for a new focus for my video today and thanks to the lovely Tania Ahmed I think I might have found it! DIY Stamp Carving is back on the agenda particularly as Julie Fei-Fan Balzer’s Carve December challenge is about to start!

So check out the video and let me know which of these products are your favourites and if you will be joining in with Carve December this year. As always the full list of the products are below the video and scroll down to see the results from the stamp I carved.

Oh and if you were wondering how to join in the stamp carving without having any of the products to hand, then I have a fun, cheap alternative you can try!

    Hi Kim
as kids in school we used potatoes for stamping. I guess in a similar way as the carrot (haven't watched your video yet, but will do so over the weekend). When you take baking potatoes you can make rather large stamps. Cut the potato in half, carve your motif out and ready to stamp.
We had the first little bit of snow this evening.

    Hi Kim,
where is my comment from yesterday? Did you hide it? In which box did you put it?
I was saying that as kids in school we used potatoes to make stamps. When using baking potatoes one can make rather large ones. And they are eaiser to cut for kids as carrots.
May I make a suggestion to that new look of your blog? How about an idex and/or a search box? That would make it easier to find older stuff for reference, I look often for things you did and I am sure not the only one.
Hope you are not too exhausted from all that moving 😉

      Hey Rena,

You have spotted the new look then 😀 ?! Well the transfer happened yesterday so I have an awful feeling that your previous comment has gotten lost as my blog got transferred from blogger to wordpress. Sorry! But thank you for coming back and re-submitting it! That is great.

I will definitely put a search box in (once I have worked out how – I have a lot to learn about how to work this new site!) great suggestion. I use them all the time too! Wait a minute, I’ve just spotted that there is a search tool in the menu bar, top right, next to the email icon, at the end of the social media icons. Try that and see if it works for you and let me know 😀 I’ve not checked where it is if you are on mobile though, but if you are on mobile browsing try near the social media icons, perhaps it is there.

I think carrots might be a little too small for little ones, potatoes are always the go-to veg for print making in schools aren’t they?!

Advent greetings back to you from sunny London (it was very sunny, but cold here today!)

Of course I see the new look 😉 even being elderly and wearing glasses LOL
I even found that tiny little search symbol which I didn’t see before. It always takes time to get used to new stuff. And I hate that. Ok, it is not about me…
It is always soooo not funny when the supermarkets move the stuff around and one can’t find anything. But I hate shopping anyway. Apart from crafty items of course.
I tried that search function with gelli plate and your posts about gelli plates came up. So that seems to work. But I can’t help you with trying on any mobile devices as I don’t use things like that.
As I can see you put up in the meantime some sort of index for different groups on the right site. That should already help for looking into a certain category.

I also watched that video about veg carving now, that carrot is a really good idea for a rolling stamp. That would make good backgrounds, starting in different places to get that colour from bold to pale. If you know what I mean, my english is not as good as it used to be anymore. So I will sure try that. And yes, when the carrot is not straight, just cut it down.

Some years ago I tried to use erasers, but only for trying not seriously using it. The thing is, you see something and try it. Then you see the next thing and try that… you get the picture. Basically one is busy trying whatever one sees. I am always curious with what you come up next.

What I especially liked in the video is that you are visible, that was a very nice touch and it makes it even more personal.

Now I am off to watch the new video from today.

Greetings from freezing Germany – at least the part where I live -, the cars have already ice on the windows.

          Hey Rena,

Me again! Yeah, I didn’t spot the search symbol either, I spotted it whilst I was writing the reply to you 😀 It is going to take me a bit of time to get use to too! But, just to warn you, I do have some other changes to come, hopefully to make it easier, but it might take more getting used to!

I’m not big on shopping either, unless, as you say it is for art and craft stuff! I have to get in the mood to go shopping!

I am glad you like the carrot roller and have got some ideas coming up for using it. I think a lot of us crafty people are craft magpies, we just want to try everything! I want to try it ALL!

Thanks for letting me know how you got on with the new site!
Greetings from a surprisingly warm London. I can’t keep up with the temperature fluctuations here at the moment!
          Have a lovely evening.
          Kim
