Show Your Face

Hey Friday, Hey Facers! We had a huge number of faces last week, both old and new. Welcome to all and massive thank you for linking up, hope you had fun hopping through all of last week’s faces.

Now I know that we have quite a few PaperArtsy fans here so some of you might already have seen my share today and you will also know that the current PaperArtsy challenge theme is faces! They were very kind and had me over on their blog on Monday with a guest blog post.

But if you didn’t know then do pop on over to check out the PaperArtsy blog and link up your face work to their challenge post to be in with a chance to win £50 to spend over at the PaperArtsy shop, which is full of yumminess, by the way!

Right, shall we show our faces?

First up the admin…

Schedule:

  • In The Style Of  – November 2015 (examine our favourite established artists, incorporate what they do through our own face practise)
  • Focus On Eyes – January 2016 (break out of our normal practice and try different styles of doing eyes such as traditional, cartoon, manga etc. As suggested by Susana Magenheimer)
  • Inspired By – March 2016 (pick fellow Facers to inspire our work this month)

Feel free to let me know if you have any more themes or ideas for Show Your Face.

Don’t forget:

  • Show Your Face is a community link up for portrait work in any style or medium.
  • the aims are to share, learn, practise, inspire, and be inspired.
  • to make sure that the face artwork is yours, if you use any stamps or templates to build the face they should be designed by you.
  • the link is open from 10 am (BST) every Friday and stays open for a week, so link away.
  • finished pieces, works in progress or retro posts (i.e. older works, not from this week) are all welcome.
  • to link back to the link blog post here for that week.
  • Spread the word on your blog/social media outlets and use the #ShowYourFace hashtag in social media.

Looking For The Blog Button?

If you want to wear the blog button with pride then hop on over to Show Your Face 31st July 2015 to grab it and there are instructions on how to put it on your blog there too.

My Share This Week…

My share this week is another sneaky peek of the face I did for PaperArtsy using the PaperArtsy Fresco Acrylic paint and JoFY stamps. If you want to see the whole thing and how I put it together then check out the guest post that I did for them on Monday where I’ve shown my process for this piece.

Over To You…

Link your faces artwork and spread the word on your blog and/or social media, hashtag #ShowYourFace . Please do let anyone you think would be interested in sharing their portraits know about our community here.

I really loved this face over at PaperArtsy, Kim. The background is gorgeous and the drawing has such a lovely sense of line. I also really like the use of stamping to decorate, it gives it a beautiful, fresh and spring-like quality.

It's fascinating, and a lot of fun, to see how people choose to portray faces. I'm hampered in as much I find it impossible to get outside of realism … but that doesn't stop me loving the creations on show here. Art is wonderful but diversity in art is magical …bags of magic in here then. Thank you for letting me in, Kim.
