Welcome Facers, are you ready to show your portrait work this week? I certainly hope so! We got an amazing range of faces last week do go take a look if you haven’t had a chance yet.
If you are new here I’ve gone a bit face art-crazy recently and am running a community share all about faces! The idea is to inspire, be inspired and to share our portrait progress week by week.
So if you have drawn, doodled, painted, sewn a face or done any portrait work at all then link it up below. It can be any style and use any materials but it needs to be your own work and not using stamps or stencils to make the face, unless you designed those stamps and stencils yourself that is!
You can link up old work too, that is no problem so just go ahead and link up then spread the word and we will see if we can get everyone making faces (pun intended!).
Ok that is enough of that, let me share with you my face this week.
This week I went back to pencil and practised some whimsical faces. Just a bit of doodling.
Then the doodling got a bit more serious as I tried to practise shading whilst watching the BBC production of the Other Anne Boleyn girl. It is supposed to be Jodhi May, luckily I wasn’t practising getting likeness!
Then back to some random face doodling and shading practise.
That was my week of portrait work, well when I say week I really mean Wednesday!
Over To You…
Remember to link up below and any shares on social media or on your blog would be much appreciated. Inspire, be inspired and share the word!
Looking forward to seeing your portrait work.
Catch you later Face-Artinators!
Kim
ps. If your art happens to be from an art journal page then go link up with Julie Fei-Fan Balzer’s Art Journal Everyday post. Or if it involves paint then link it up at Paint Party Friday. For any work using old, new and digital aspects why not check out Mo’s new challenge blog Old, New and Digital too?
Super sketches
Thanks Clare and thanks for linking up. Totally love her…just going to say that on your blog π Kx
Nice to see your sketches! Must have been tricky using a moving face as your inspiration! I like making mine up at the moment!
Thanks Jacqueline. I cheated! We had a phone call mid program and the pause happened to be on a good full face shot, so I whipped out my pencil LOL! Looking forward to seeing yours π Kx
thanks for sharing your lovely doodles-something I should be doing more of too.
Thanks Linda and thanks for sharing, just off to go see your work this week π Have a fun week π Kx
Shading is tricky – really tricky. It can totally change how a drawing looks and for some reason my shading is always a bit of a hit or miss situation. Either it's spot on or it looks awful. I wish I was good enough to get it right every time.
But you know what they say – it takes practice.
Hey Jeanet, I'm glad it isn't just me but I reckon I'm going to need a lot more practise than you LOL π Thanks so much for linking up again this week. Kx
oh good another Friday challenge and just enough people to get around as some have too many participants..from a rainy Liverpool
So glad you found us at Show Your Face and fancied joining in great to see you π From a rainy London too π Kx
Hi Kim heart your art <3 Might do that for the next challenge something sketchie π Thanks for the encouragement!
Wahoo! Yay Susana, so glad you linked up and super excited to see you here π Looking forward to something sketchie next week π Kx
Loving your sketches this week Kim. I am so enjoying the challenge of practising portraits and linking up the week's work! It's proving just the stimulus I need! Lovely to see what everyone is doing too. xxx
You have made my day Julie Ann! I'm so glad that it is working that way for you, it was exactly what I was hoping for π Have a fun week and thanks for linking again π Kx
Great idea! I love painting/drawing/sketching faces, so this is right up my alley π
I am so glad! It is wonderful to see you here and thank you for sharing your art in the link up! Totally hope to see you here again next week too. Kimx
Love that you sketched in your calendar – so much more fun than recording all those pesky things that need to be done! Thanks also for another place to see people that are inspired by faces!!
You are welcome and thank you so much for linking again this week! Glad you liked my face doodling in my diary. Yeah, there were meant to be lists on there instead LOL! Kx
What a great idea Kim! It's been a while since I did faces, so I've linked one I did in 2013, when I was still new to art journaling.
Your sketch looks great btw!
Happy Saturday!
Alison xx
Oh brilliant Alison! A retrospective is perfect π I'm so glad you popped over and linked her up and feel free to come back next week with a new face, if you felt the urge or if not another past make will be super fine too! Kx
Love your idea Kim, beautiful sketches { swooning over your noses, I struggle with them lol } Linked up one of my doodles from this week. Off to go hop along and be inspired. Thank you so much for this. Big hugs Tracy xoxo
Funny that Tracy, I'm never happy with my noses! Obviously noses are tough! LOL! So glad you could link up and join in. It is wonderful and I am really pleased π Kx

Thank you Meihsia. Hope you have had a fun creative week this week. Hope to see some more of your gorgeous faces if you have a chance to do some. Kx
Very inspiring sketches, Kim, you make so many lovely faces on one page, that's awesome.
Love and hugs
Maarit
Thanks Maarit and thanks for linking up again this week I do love seeing what you have been up to with your faces. Kx
Love how many wonderful and diverse faces are sharing this week. Am really enjoying taking part… Next week will be new drawings and then onto a little bit more experimentation.
The first face was me trying to express pain and laughter, no name as yet, any ideas welcome.
Exciting Face times ahead π xxx
I'm so glad you are enjoying it and you have been such a champaign of the idea too. π
You really show those emotions in her face, not an easy job but you managed it! I love the way you name your faces, I'm not very good at that.
So glad you linked up again, thanks Mo. Kx
