Bird House In My Soul

Ok so I’ve probably broken some rule of blogging by using a similar title before. But I do kind of like it and I think it kind of fits my Creative Expressions make this week.

A little Birdhouse Shrine to Found Objects.

I’ve used a few different stamp sets in my shrine, can you guess which ones?

When first of all there is the Creative Expressions Sam Poole’s Umount Birds set which is the DT stamp set this month.

But I’ve also used the Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 The Voice Of Art Stamp set.

And Creative Expressions Sam Poole’s Umount Vintage Typewriter set.

The found objects are some Hessian and cardboard recycled from packaging, an old book page, a watch front and an old key that I recently rusted.

Oh and if any of you guys like your sketching and happen to be in London today (and not visiting me at Hobbycraft in Woking of course!) then pop up to Cass Art in Islington for a free event launching The Art Of Urban Sketching book, which is proving so popular that they had to reprint it – they ran out of the first run that was released in February 2012! I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of this book and I would be at the event myself if I wasn’t demoing in Woking, I’ll just have to do some Urban Hobbycraft sketching!

Have a lovely Saturday.

  1. Well, I shall be singing that sing all day now! 🙂 And then I expect I'll be back looking at this A.Mazing project several times too. Wow. xx

  2. Hi Kim

    This is just amazing!!!

    Love it very, very much.

Old keys always intrigue me and I can't help wondering what they might unlock!

Have a good weekend. How the demonstrations go well (which I am sure they will). Wish I lived nearby!!!

    Love Jules xx

  3. A fabulous birdhouse Kim. I love the contrast of the red with the browns and black and the way you have used your elements to create the look is so appealing.
It was fabulous meeting up with you today at Woking and to have a chat. I am looking forward to playing with my watercolour markers.
I hope you had a good day and have fun at Staples Corner tomorrow. xox

  4. Kim, I just love this bird house and all of it's charm! The rusted key is not only clever, but so awesome! Hope you are having a great Sunday!

  6. So glad you visited my blog so I could find yours. I love your bird shrine. The colors, the design, and the texture from all the elements you used are wonderful. Birds are one of my favorite images to use in my art. Look forward to following your journey!
